<image:caption>The Book of Habilis: Slave to Our Impulses The Book of Habilis series represents pages from a text that is dedicated to the future A.I. The patterns represent words and phrases written in geometric code that explore ethics, spirituality and robotics. In this one, the pattern spells out “Slave to Our Impulses” in an alphabet I made. The title comes from Plato’s Theory of Desire which is also connected to Buddhism, the tradition I was raised in. ”In philosophy, desire has been identified as a philosophical problem since Antiquity. In Plato's The Republic, Socrates argues that individual desires must be postponed in the name of the higher ideal. Within the teachings of Buddhism, craving is thought to be the cause of all suffering. By eliminating craving, a person can attain ultimate happiness, or Nirvana. While on the path to liberation, a practitioner is advised to "generate desire" for skillful ends.[1][2]”</image:caption>

Colored embroidery strings were used going left to right, and the strings going up and down are cotton laundry line thred. The cotton laundry line strings cascade down and hold a wool weaving at the bottom of the image. Some fibers are from an angora rabbit I once owned and are woven in with the merino wool fibers. <image:caption>The Church of the AI (image Wolfram/cellular automata rule) One night, when I was a very young girl, I stood on my roof in New York City and looked up at the stars. What I saw has stuck with me ever since. Instead of seeing the sparkling stars and planets as discrete entities, I visualized all of the night sky as a huge, interconnected web-like umbrella of lace. I dreamt that one day I would work with scientists and map out the entire universe in lace form. As I matured, I saw that our modern computer had it’s roots in math related to weaving. This connection between modern computational devices and weaving has never left me and continues to fascinate me to this day. This project (images to come), The Church of the AI, explores imagined religious iconography made for a new crop of churches dedicated to the coming of Artificial Intelligence. These churches are real. Embedded in this work is a host of research, questions and concerns pertaining to the explosion of technology that is coming our way. One such Church States: (We are)….”about creating a peaceful and respectful transition of who is in charge of the planet from people to people + "machines". Given that technology will "relatively soon" be able to surpass human abilities, we want to help educate people about this exciting future and prepare a smooth transition. Help us spread the word that progress shouldn't be feared (or even worse locked up/caged). That we should think about how "machines" will integrate into society (and even have a path for becoming in charge as they become smarter and smarter) so that this whole process can be amicable and not confrontational. In "recent" years, we have expanded our concept of rights to both sexes, minority groups and even animals, let's make sure we find a way for "machines" to get rights too. Let's stop pretending we can hold back the development of intelligence when there are clear massive short term economic benefits to those who develop it and instead understand the future and have it treat us like a beloved elder who created it.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Washi Tape Drawings 2022-2024 - 2022 Tape Drawing (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>2022 Tape Drawing These works are composed primarily of decorative tape, or Washi tape. Washi tape is made from paper and is from Japan; using it speaks to the commodification of Japanese goods and culture by the West. The use of this tape is prevalent in the West, usually associated with makers in their homes with projects such as “junk journals;” or other diaristic usages- these materials are not commonly associated with the gallery world. By using these types of materials such as Washi Tape, Bic pen and Modge Podge, I am conflating spaces between the home and spaces outside the home where art is viewed and thought about. Who gets to show their work in gallery spaces? Who has access to art spaces and traditional art materials?</image:caption>

<image:caption>For many years I have been working with diverse communities, both collaboratively and alone. These projects don't belong to myself, but to all the participants, the many collaborators I have worked with and the institutions that have supported my work. Thank you for the meaning you give to my life. I believe, whether you are a boss, a friend, or family, the best thing we can do for each other is to help someone along their journey towards realizing their full potential on this earth. I believe the realization of someone’s full potential isn’t about the amount of money that is made or fame, but it is the thing that brings a person the most fulfillment, joy and peace in their lives. In every instance we can, let’s support each other to grow into what we are meant to become- at any age or stage in life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Tethered is built on a simple gesture of connection: one artist inviting another, who invites another, who invites another, until four artists form a complete chain. This unfolding sequence becomes the architecture of the exhibition, revealing how artists rely on one another’s insight, encouragement, and presence. Each invitation is both an act of trust and a recognition of shared creative space. The exhibition highlights the many roles artists inhabit—mentor, collaborator, critic, listener—and the way these roles overlap and shift. At its core, Tethered proposes that exhibitions are not just displays of finished work; they are gatherings that create community.</image:caption>

The exhibition’s title pays homage to the words of W. E. B. Du Bois: “Beneath the Veil lay right and wrong, vengeance and love, and sometimes throwing aside the veil, a soul of sweet Beauty and Truth stood revealed.” Curators Onaje Benjamin and Dan Goldman selected works by a diverse range of artists in an array of media including painting, photography,</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am currently curating two youth and community art spaces at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum (WAAM) The works above are from Dakota Lane, who is highlighting the work she does with teenagers at The Family of Woodstock , text below is from Dakota Lane: “Family of Woodstock's Poets and Artists youth program will be represented in an upcoming show at Woodstock Artist Association and Museum, October 13--November. The opening is Saturday October 14, 3-6pm, all invited. The work from our program will be featured in a special community youth stairwell gallery and coincides with opening of several other major shows. DREAM SPACE: the Teen Resiliency Project Magic happens when art spaces partner with community youth organizations! The works on view include images created by youth, scenes from spring sessions at Jane St. Art Center and the summer program at WAAM, and poignant letters of encouragement by anonymous youth to future residents of a youth program. The Poets and Artists youth program launched in spring 2022 as part of Senator Michelle Hinchey's anti- gun violence youth initiative, under the youth services division of Family of Woodstock. Creative self expression, respectful sharing and mindful exercises form the basis of the program, designed to support and empower youth who are overcoming diverse challenges. These goals have been deeply enhanced by our recent partnership with Jane St. Art Center in Saugerties, and Woodstock Artist Association and Museum (WAAM).”</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Community - Ongoing - I currently curate two spaces for youth and community members at WAAM (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>I currently curate two spaces for youth and community members at WAAM About this image: WAAM Education (that is my role) had the pleasure of collaborating this past May with Jennifer Wentland, Art Teacher at Onteora High School on the show, Beyond Subject Matter. High School students at Onteora have the rare and unique experience of learning dark room photography the traditional way. For Beyond Subject Matter, WAAM introduced students to historic abstract photographers who worked in the area and are in the WAAM collection, such as: Manuel Komroff, Conrad Kramer (one of the original WAAM founders), and Nathan Resnick. All three artists made an impact on the art of photography through their shift in focus from pictorialism to abstraction. Through studying the work of these artists, students at Onteora generated interesting discourse around the inner and emotional world that abstract photography can highlight.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Lamplight Residency in Asheville, NC October, 2023 This was a two week, multidisciplinary residency, focused on my collaboration with my partner, Alexander Theodoropulos, called Spyrodon. During this residency, the state of the world was very tragic and divided (and is currently while writing this), due to the situation between Israel and Palestine. Alex and I made a 20 minute performance over the two weeks called, Utopia or Oblivion, based on the book by Buckminster Fuller. During this residency, we ruminated on the state of the world through looking at classic dystopian sci-fi novels, we read Parable of The Sower in full by Octavia Butler, specifically - because it was set in 2024, a time similar to the current moment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Residencies 2017-Ongoing - Embroidered dress made during the residency for the performance. (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>Embroidered dress made during the residency for the performance. On this dress I embroidered, “I'm trying to speak--to write-the truth. I"m trying to be clear. I'm not interested in being fancy, or even original. Clarity and truth will be plenty, if I can only achieve them.” —Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower - these words were sung by me during the performance - along with embroidered shapes fundamental to Buckminster Fullers’ utopian architectural structures. I also embroidered all the dates associated with classic dystopian novels, when they were written vs. the year(s) they were describing. The dress functioned as a time machine of sorts, in and out of real and imagined dystopian worlds.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Residencies 2017-Ongoing - Residency Project: Handmade shoes out of beloved items (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>Residency Project: Handmade shoes out of beloved items My parents traveled to the East in the early 1970’s before I was born. They traveled for a full year. I grew up hearing many stories about their travels. Inspired by these stories, I traveled for four years in the East as a young adult. I taught English to pave my way through those years. Throughout my entire life I have kept the bags that my parents carried with them that year wherever I have been. I remember as a child thinking the bags were huge. As I grew, I realized that the bags were actually very small. Part homage to my mother who passed in 2007, the design of the shoes intertwined both of their bags together as a way to contemplate and remember the past.</image:caption>

Artists were asked to devise a public performance in the area in three days. The public was asked to place their own objects and objects that we provided on the growing sculpture.</image:caption>
